Visit & Reserve

Reserve a Table on the Costa Brava

A reservation at Fanal Racou is the start of an evening — candlelight on the terrace, the first bottle of Empordà, and a kitchen that has been feeding this same coastline since 1978. Tell us when you'd like to come, and we will write back the way we would to friends.

Open seven days a week, April through October. Telephone and email answered daily, 10:00–22:00 CET.

Practicalities

Plan Your Evening — Address, Hours & Getting Here

Fanal Racou sits directly above Cala Racó, the small horseshoe cove at the eastern end of Platja d'Aro. The restaurant is a five-minute walk along the seafront promenade from the centre of town, and a calm forty-minute drive south of Girona along the C-31.

Address

Carrer de la Cala, 14

Girona, Catalunya, Espanya

Set directly above the sea, beside the small church of Santa Maria. Look for the original stone arches of the 1903 fishermen's house.

A Family Kitchen

A Kitchen Trusted Since 1978

Three generations of the Racou family have cooked at this same table. The numbers below are not marketing — they are what our guests, our peers and our region have said about us, year after year.

  • TheFork · 9.2 / 10

From 4,870+ verified diner reviews — the highest-rated romantic kitchen on the Girona coast.

  • Condé Nast Traveler España

Named Most Romantic Terrace in Spain, 2023 — for the sea-facing dining above Cala Racó.

  • Fòrum Gastronòmic · 2023

Listed among the Top 10 Romantic Restaurants in Catalonia — alongside a small handful of kitchens we deeply admire.

  • Girona Culinary Congress · 2022

Our Suquet de Peix — grandmother Racou's recipe — was awarded Best Traditional Catalan Recipe of the year.

  • Three generations on the Costa Brava

Founded by the Racou family in a restored 1903 fishermen's house in 1978. Today the kitchen is led by Maria Racou, trained at El Celler de Can Roca, with 22 staff including three sommeliers and a six-strong brigade.

  • A cellar of place

320 labels, curated by head sommelier Joan Casademont — 92% from the Empordà and Priorat denominations of origin, the two DOs that frame this coastline.

  • Guests who come back

Our guests return an average of 2.4 times per year. More than 41,000 reservations have been booked through our system in the last twelve months.

  • What we are not

We are a family kitchen, not a starred restaurant, and we are proud of the difference. No molecular technique, no superlatives — just the same Catalan table we have set since 1978.

When you are ready, tell us when you would like to come.
